Trauma is the leading cause of death for people ages 1 to 45. However, despite that, Brown Surgical Associates Trauma Surgeon Charles Adams, MD said many people overlook the impact trauma has on our society.
“When you look at the years lost to trauma and compare it to conditions like cancer, they pale in comparison,” Dr. Adams said. “So, the cost in terms of life, the cost in terms of the hit to society, the cost in the loss of economic productivity, all of that is staggering.”
Dr. Adams said it’s incredibly rewarding helping to save lives and put a dent in those numbers. He also discussed how collaborating with his Brown Surgical Associates’ colleagues helps him better treat trauma patients in the operating room.
