PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — When Milka learned her husband Daniel needed a kidney transplant, she wanted to donate one of hers. However, when she learned she wasn’t a match, she decided to be a non-direct living donor. As luck would have it, Milka was a match for Nicholas Bianchi and another living donor – Elizabeth Tindal, a surgical resident with the transplant team at Rhode Island Hospital – was a match for Daniel. On April 26, all four were in surgery: two to donate kidneys and two to receive them. Brown Surgical Associates transplant surgeon, Dr. Adena Osband, recently spoke to Channel 10’s Barbara Morse about the inspiring donations.
