Hasbro Children’s Hospital verified as Level 1 pediatric trauma program

 

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — Hasbro Children’s Hospital has been reverified as a Level 1 trauma center.

Every three years, the American College of Surgeons reassesses this certification to make sure these institutions are meeting the criteria.

“We have a lot of orthopedic trauma. Fortunately, we have some good pediatric orthopedic support. We have a good volume of pediatric neurosurgery trauma, unfortunately in terms of head injuries,” said Dr. Elizabeth Renaud, pediatric trauma director at Hasbro and pediatric surgeon with Brown Surgical Associates.
