The annual lectureship is named in honor of the late Frank G. DeLuca, MD, a clinical professor of surgery, emeritus at Brown Medical School who served as Pediatric Surgeon-in-Chief at Rhode Island Hospital from 1967-1997.
Pediatric Surgery in Rhode Island and Southern New England was central to Frank DeLuca’s personal and professional life and his contributions to resident and medical student training will be remembered. In acknowledgment of Dr. DeLuca’s many contributions, Rhode Island Hospital developed the Frank G. DeLuca, MD Endowment for Pediatric Surgical Research and Education. This Endowment was designed to be a lasting tribute to Dr. DeLuca’s contributions in Pediatric Surgery, and to carry forward his goals of extending the research and educational mission of Hasbro Children’s Hospital and the Department of Surgery at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
