PROVIDENCE, R.I. (April 21, 2023) —Brown Surgical Associates today announced that fellowship-trained surgeon Emily Ortega Goddard, MD has joined both the practice’s Division of Bariatric Surgery and its Division of General Surgery.
Dr. Goddard, who will also serve as a surgeon at the Providence VA Medical Center, specializes in both bariatric and general surgery, with a particular interest in surgical endoscopy; robotic surgery; complex abdominal wall reconstruction and hernia surgery; foregut surgery; and bariatric surgery.

Dr. Goddard received her medical degree in 2017 from the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, and in 2022 completed her general surgical residency at WellSpan York Hospital in Pennsylvania. She subsequently completed her fellowship training at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery in 2023.

So, it’s home for us,” Dr. Goddard said. “I am thrilled to join such a talented group of surgeons from whom I’ve already learned so much.
