PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Brown Surgical Associates today announced it is welcoming fellowship-trained surgeon Haley Leesley, MD, to the practice’s Division of Thoracic Surgery.
Dr. Leesley specializes in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, with a particular interest in the minimally invasive treatment of lung and esophageal cancers, as well as benign disease of the chest wall, foregut, and thoracic cavity.
“As part of our commitment to providing world-class surgical care, our Division of Thoracic Surgery has been laser-focused on elevating the treatments we’re able to offer to the people of Rhode Island, Southeastern Massachusetts, and beyond,” said Dr. William Cioffi, President of Brown Surgical Associates. “The addition of Dr. Leesley – with her vast skillset and knowledge of minimally invasive procedures – is sure to be an incredible asset to our world-renown thoracic surgery team and, more importantly, the patients who entrust us with their care.”
Dr. Leesley received her medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine. She completed her surgical residency with Brown University, and a cardiovascular and thoracic surgery fellowship with the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX.
She said she decided to return to Rhode Island largely because of the direction Chief Dr. Abbas Abbas is taking the practice’s Thoracic Surgery Division.
“Dr. Abbas is building a program that’s truly world-class and I jumped at the chance to be a part of that. Not only am I excited to help create a nationally recognized thoracic and esophageal cancer program, I’m absolutely ecstatic about what that means for our patients,” Dr. Leesley said. “Through surgery, we have the opportunity and ability to change and to save lives. That’s an incredible privilege and honor.”
Dr. Leesley is now seeing patients at 2 Dudley Street, Suite 470 in Providence, RI. She can be reached at 401-228-0621.
