(WJAR) – March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month and Dr. Katherine Baysinger appeared on WJAR’s Studio 10 to help spread the word about the importance of screening in order to detect, and even prevent colon cancer.
While appearing with host Ben DeCastro, Dr. Baysinger explained that colonoscopy is the best screening option, because not only can physicians detect colon cancer, they also remove any precancerous polyps found during the procedure. She also discussed the new screening age of 45 and why at-risk groups – which includes the Black community, smokers, and those who are overweight – may need to start screening earlier than that.
