It was April 28, 2021, when Kara Niewohner was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. Less than a year later, after undergoing treatment and a double mastectomy, Kara realized a life-long dream – running the Boston Marathon.
Kara said during her treatments, she found comfort in running. Something her surgeon, Brown Surgical Associates’ Dr. Doreen Wiggins, applauded.
“One of the most important keys of survival is finding a sense of purpose within yourself and moving the body,” Dr. Wiggins told Channel 10’s Barbara Morse.
