Below are some of the support groups and services available to patients, survivors, and their families in the Rhode Island area.
Burn Survivor Support Group - Gerry House
The Burn Center at Rhode Island Hospital organizes a bi-monthly support group for burn survivors of all ages and their families. Meetings take place at Gerry House on the Rhode Island Hospital campus. For further information, please call 401-606-4210 or email RhodeIslandBurnCenter@brownhealth.org.
- A standard meeting can consist of:
- Introduction and discussion of a burn care topic
- Open time to share with the group (participants may share or listen to others share)
- Networking (a time to meet and talk with other survivors)
- Pediatric expressive therapy
Look Good, Feel Better - Rhode Island Hospital
Join the American Cancer Society (ACS) to learn how to look good and feel better about the skin and hair changes that cancer treatment can cause. Attend free workshops led by trained, volunteer cosmetologists. Get help with cosmetics, skincare, and head-covering options.

Women's Cancer Wellness Group - East Greenwich
Women’s Cancer Wellness Group is a support group for women diagnosed with any type of cancer who are interested in meeting with peers for discussion, education, and support throughout the treatment and recovery process. The group meets from 4 to 5 p.m., on the third Thursday of each month, in the second-floor conference room at 1454 South County Trail, East Greenwich, RI. Men's Cancer Wellness Group
The Men’s Cancer Wellness Group is a forum for men who have been diagnosed with prostate, bladder, testicular, penile, or renal cancer. The group, facilitated by Kathy Higginbotham, LICSW, aims to provide support for participants during treatment and recovery. The group meets in the third-floor conference room of the Fain Building at The Miriam Hospital, 164 Summit Avenue, Providence, RI. Weight Loss Striders Keys to Keys to Success
This is an all-inclusive meeting for pre-operation and post-operation patients as well as for those just investigating surgery. Family members are welcome. The monthly meeting will take place on the second Tuesday of the month from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at The Miriam Hospital.
