Comprehensive Burn Treatment Care

The Rhode Island Burn Center (RIBC) at Rhode Island Hospital and Hasbro Children’s Hospital is an American Burn Association verified burn center for both adult and pediatric burn survivors and has been verified since 2007. This distinction ensures that RIBC is adhering to the highest current standards of care set forth by the American Burn Association for the burn-injured patient from time of injury through rehabilitation.

RIBC admits over 150 burn patients per year and has in excess of 1000 outpatient clinic visits per year to provide continued care for our burn survivors. State-of-the-art burn care is provided to the patients treated at Rhode Island Burn Center throughout the continuum of care, from initial injury through comprehensive rehabilitation and future reconstructive needs.

The Burn Team is comprised of multidisciplinary members, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, physical and occupational therapists, social workers, dieticians, and child life specialists for the pediatric burn patients. All members of this multidisciplinary team endorse patient- and family-centered care with a focus on optimizing healing and maximizing function for the burn survivors.

Burn survivors are encouraged to attend the active support group that welcomes all burn survivors, their families, friends, and caregivers. All of welcome to join us at the RIBC Burn Survivor Support Group.

RIBC has been fortunate to be the host Burn Center for the Phoenix World Burn Congress in 2013 and 2016 and welcomes the opportunity to host again in October of 2020.

Many members of the multidisciplinary Burn Team are actively involved in the American Burn Association, and they present locally, nationally, and internationally on various topics throughout the spectrum of burn treatment.
